In Paradise
by Rosemarie Crisafi
|
For once, I declare, I am in heaven.
You rip apart a smile.
Insufficient to utter my climb
has been ecstatic.
I assumed cherubs were statues
and you polished your wings
with Pledge.
Now they blush red, and feathers bloom.
The hummingbird beats air
hurriedly, vibrating
and I grasp the sky
as if it was a sheet of glass
allowing me to fly.
